Sketchbook pieces
These are a few pieces of work from my sketchbooks that I have produced around Krakow. The top six images are from my painting class, as whilst the rest of the pupils were painting from the model I became more interested in the environment of the painting studio and began to draw the various collections of objects within the room. I found the small painting studio surreal, crowded and too cluttered to be able to work but I enjoyed capturing the bizarre objects in their ephemeral arrangements with pen as a record of their brief existence.
After visiting the Stanislaw Wyspianski museum I decided to test out my oil pastels and the bold marks and scratching technique I could use with them. I love the layering and the physicality of oil pastels and this brief drawing exercise was another way of me exploring drawing techniques.
The last five images relate to my practice, and the ideas and compositions I have been working on in my photography and pin prick pieces.
