City Lights

Whilst out walking at night in Krakow I uncovered an alleyway with spherical lightboxes, with different coloured lightbulbs inside, and thought it would be interesting to display and photograph my work in this setting. Not only did the light boxes allow me to display my work with artificial light, giving the pin hole drawings a further translucency and altering colour, but they also gave a new insight into how I could progress with my work giving the nature of the subject.

Allowing my drawings to be displayed in an urban context, surrounded by graffiti, concrete, old posters and the colours of the outdoor lighting that we are so accustomed to in urban living, gave me a new insight to my work and the importance of where it is placed. I am now scoping the city to find other venues to display my work, and see how the lighting alters the perception and the intensity of the pin -hole drawings. I am also in the process of creating large scale pin prick drawings that will cover each light box in this alley, creating a dramatic urban light show about in Krakow displayed on Krakow's walls.
